Our congratulations to MA in Social Services & Healthcare Candidate Elona Russell from Buckreddan Care Centre who has completed her SVQ qualification in just over 4 months. Elona said that
“One of the main difficulties in gaining the qualification was finding the time at home to study. To overcome this I concentrated on what I needed to do and if I didn’t understand something I would ask for it in more detail. One of the most interesting things about my qualification was realising how much I knew without actually realising what I knew and it showed me that because I put hard work and effort into it I’ll get it back out as all the things I done in my qualification helps me in my job with day to day things.
When asked if the qualification has improved Elona’s work practice she said,
“Yes, because it helped me learn more and showed me how much I knew and not to doubt myself when I know I’m right. I think that doing this qualification has gave me more confidence in knowing that I do know my job role and what it takes to do it.”
Elona is hoping to progress in her learning and in the future hopes to study nursing. Julie, Elona’s Assessor said
“Elona was finding it difficult to complete her work at home so we set up time away from both work and home to support her through the SVQ. She showed a committed and motivated attitude towards achieving the qualification so quickly and worked very hard to do so. Well done Elona!”
