RT Resources bridge the training gap at Malin Court Care Home

RT Resources have recently started working with the Malin Court Care Home, in Turnberry, Ayrshire.  The care home wished to put the care staff through their SVQ level 2. This is a minimum requirement for a carer to have, and to fulfil their SSSC registration.

When asked why they chose to work with RT Resources to deliver the SVQs Elaine Hughes, from the Malin Court said,

“I had enquired about RT Resources as I was looking for another provider. We already had been using another company, but the feedback from the care staff who were using them was not very positive. A decision was made to source another company. When I spoke with their staff they appeared very friendly and helpful.”

Julie Easton, one of our Social Services and Healthcare Assessors worked with four members of staff from the Home.

One of the candidates, Victoria Wallace said,

“I found it quite daunting the thought of doing the SVQ as I hadn’t studied in 17 years. I also have 3 daughters and I work full time. Once I met Julie my assessor, she did put me at ease (I did ask her a lot of questions) and she was very helpful.  I work nightshift and had an hour and a half each night I was on as a break so I would do my assessments in this time so I didn’t need to do it at home. Julie was fantastic and I managed to do all my written work in 3 weeks.”

Elaine also added,

“The staff had no problems at all with the qualifications. They seemed to enjoy it. Their knowledge and understanding in their role as care staff has greatly improved, and we have already discussed the possibility of a Level 3 course.”

Victoria said she suffered from a lack of confidence and she found all parts of the training beneficial as it gave her a confidence boost that she managed to complete it.  Elaine also said the candidates knowledge and understanding in their role as care staff has greatly improved.

RT Resources look forward to a continuing working relationship with the Malin Court Care Home.
