The first learner at Scot Seat Direct Ltd, Marine Seat Division (Scot Seats KPM-Marine) has completed his Level 2 Modern Apprenticeship in Glass Processing funded by Skills Development Scotland.

To aid Scot Seat’s growth in the marine sector Scottish Enterprise helped with the opening of an in house composite department managed and set up by composite expert Jim Smith.

The first learner, Michael Scott, has been mentored by Jim and other experienced operatives in the processes and procedures involved in composite product production.

Michael has made a valuable contribution to the evolution of the workshop and in product design and process improvements.

The products are moulded from glassfibre and resins to produce high quality shock mitigation seating for high speed boats used by customers all over the world including The Netherlands Government, Hong Kong Marine Police and Swedish Sea Rescue Service are just a couple of the organisations worldwide that are using Scot Seat’s unique shock mitigation seats.
